his article is for all in need of some hard data. Logistics of self-tour preparation can be quite challenging. The facts are not difficult to find, but they are time-consuming.
Beneath you will have a Time-chart for the most sought attractions in the city. They are grouped in a graphic way, so you could see how the opening times overlap.
The Price-corner, on the other hand, will tell you the obvious. Be aware it includes only the adults! I will give you some tips, though. If you know them, you can calculate the prices without visiting the attractions’ web-pages.
SUMMER TIMES
SUMMER TIMES
As you can see these are the GENERAL times to enter the attractions. They are put here to guide you. They may differ, regarding the events, holidays, and situation in the city.
You need to remember about a few important Scottish exceptions:
- attractions are often closed on public holidays and some – due to an exceptionally bad weather
- there exist summer and winter times. Summer starts with the middle/end of April until the end of September. In winter opening times are much shorter
- LAST ADMISSION rule – usually the last admission is an hour before closing. You won’t enter after that!
The next list shows you the prices for the adult ticket. The rule in Edinburgh grants discounts to children. If they are between 5-15 years of age it is usually 30/40% of reduction. Children under 5 do not pay a thing (as with busses). Concessions starts with 60 years of age or you need to be a student (with valid ID) – it is usually around 20% of the normal price. There is also something called a family ticket (2 adults & 1-3 children of 5-15yrs) and various reductions – you can read about them here.
